As I sit here, just finishing my sessions for the day I pulled out my Magdelene Oracle card set by Toni Carmine Salerno. The subtitle of this deck is: “An Ocean of Eternal Love”. Just reading that inspires the “Ahhhhhh” reflex and then as if on cue my Homer Simpson clock in my basement chimes with Marge saying, “Homer, I would really like to get some sleep” Homer responds with “Of course my sweet” and then does his best impression of ocean sounds complete with sea gull screeches and passing ship horns. Poor Marge.
I have to laugh at myself because this seems to be my inner dialogue much of the time.
Me: Ah, I am so relaxed
Anxiety: Oh yeah, let me muck this up.
Just like Homer, my anxiety is trying its best to help, but messes up the mood.
At least it made me giggle to draw the comparison.
Anyway, The Magdelene Oracle card….It’s interesting how your intuition knows just what you need to hear. A few days ago I was chatting with friends and I pulled this card. I was astonished at its accuracy at what I needed to hear. Shuffling the cards today I forgot that I left it face up in the deck to journal on it later. Here I am, later.
The Messenger:
It is a beautiful card, as all the cards are in this deck. It has an angel standing in what looks like water and darkness behind her. Her halo and wings have a blue tinge and her face communicates knowingness. She stands out profiled in light against the darkness as if to say, “focus on me, the message, not anything else that may distract you”.
One thing that I really like about this deck is that the booklet that comes with the cards has a sweet and succinct description of the card and message.
The feeling from the message is comforting, unlike Homer’s ocean sounds and is just what I need to hear. Yesterday was a rough day and big changes loom on the horizon for me, so this card’s message of “you are about to experience a rapid expansion” and “Enjoy each moment yet remain humble and grateful, for in doing so you will attract even greater support from others” was the salve that I needed in this moment.
Often I will say to clients as they leave, “Take care of yourself. I mean it”. Many of my clients lavish lots of love and care on their loved ones and forget themselves. I have, believe it or not found myself in the same position. Oftentimes we say to people what we need to hear. This card I pulled today was a reminder to listen to my inner messenger and remember we are a beacon of light and hope for each other, but we have to care for ourselves first. Next time maybe Marge could just tell Homer to skip the ocean sounds and give her a silent hug instead. Mmmmm… hugs.
